Team Robespierre @Bruar Falls, Brooklyn NYE

l_31289d64814c13bd4bde9e2a5e43586fAnybody get the number of the bus that hit me last night? OMG I just looked at the clock for the first time today. 2:40. Impressive, even by my standards.

At some point in the evening I caught Team Robespierre at Bruar Falls on Grand Street. Oh, wait, it was midnight. I remember because, it was… New Years Eve… and there was literally a countdown to when the band was about to start.

Anyway.

Here’s the deal: in 2010, I’m drawing a line in the sand: If you don’t love Team Robespierre, I don’t want to know you. Seriously. I just don’t think we’ll have enough in common to form any kind of meaningful relationship in the long run. For, Team Robespierre are great and I think they’re my favorite band in Brooklyn right now.

The vocals are wonderfully reminiscent; the synths, understated. As for the band’s work ethic: it’s second to none. The band spends half their set in the crowd. Rare is the show that doesn’t cause its crowd members to fling themselves in the air. And even though the show last night at Bruar Falls was one of those rare shows, and the venue was seemingly packed with chicks in LBD’s and plastic tiara’s, TR made it work.

The best part was when the lead singer pushed this Asian chick away by her face and said into the mic, “Um, I have a girlfriend.” Punk. Rock.

Here are some shitty pictures.
